An extremely fine Moche Stirrup Spout Vessel with a rattle base depicting a Moche Lord wearing a headdress with a monkey head and feet, slip painted in red-brown and cream.
This vessel is a wonderful example of Moche ceramic art, as it is thin-walled and very light, and is expertly molded, burnished and slip-painted. The detailing on the monkey head is finely done, especially the sharply delineated teeth.

Moche Culture, Period II/III, North Coast Peru, circa A.D. 100-200
